Daniel Birnbaum – associate curator at Magasin 3 – was appointed new director for the Venice Biennale 2009. Birnbaum is Rector of the internationally acclaimed art academy Staedelschule in Frankfurt, a critic for Artforum and was recently voted one of the most influential people in the art world today. His most recent project in collaboration with Magasin 3 was the Paul Chan exhibition in the fall of 2006.
