Proventus' new home

Since May 22, 2006 Proventus is based on the top floor of the so called Glass Building (Swedish: Glashuset) at Slussen right at the Stockholm waterfront. For a number of years, we have been looking for a modern, functional and inspiring office space – an office that suits our activities and reflects our values.

The so called Glass Building was built in 1974 to house parts of the Swedish Cooperative Federation. It was a visionary building for its time, where flexibility and a good internal environment were key features. The task of designing the building was given to the architect Jan Lunding, who cooperated with engineers from the Federation’s own architectural offices to create a powerful and radical solution. The building is characterised by large, continuous floors and an advanced technical infrastructure, where not least the ventilation system required large spaces above and below the actual work spaces. The building has now gone through a total renovation. Technical development has made it possible to exchange areas for machinery to space for people on the top floor. Such a penthouse is now the home of Proventus.

In the same way as the qualities of this landmark building have been preserved by the current landlord, we have developed our offices with great attention to detailed planning as well as the choice of durable and functional materials. Architect SIR/ MSA Mats Hansson has been the responsible architect. When possible, we have used concepts or products that have been developed in the Proventus group. The lighting solution is thus a development of a light ceiling project, created by the engineers at the Jewish Theatre, while most of the furniture is from Artek. In addition to Artek, the office is furnished with other modernist classics that have been acquired during Proventus’ history, some of it dating back to the first office in 1969. Magasin 3 Stockholm Konsthall will also use part of the offices as an art space to show selected parts of their collection.

Our idea is that this new space should mirror the width of our activities – from culture to commerce. At the same time it has been important for us to create a good environment for engaged and creative work as well as an inspiring setting for conversations and meetings. We believe that an office with these qualities is an important element in continuing to develop Proventus.
