FACE – Foundation of Arts for a Comtemporary Europe – is a new European Interest Group made up of five major European non-profit contemporary art foundations dedicated to the promotion of emerging international artists by supporting the production and exhibition of new works.
The FACE Partner Foundations are:
Magasin 3 Stockholm Konsthall, Stockholm, Sweden
The DESTE Foundation, Athens, Greece
The Ellipse Foundation, Cascais, Portugal
Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin, Italy
La Maison Rouge, Paris, France
FACE start-up project 'Production 5'
Over the next five years, FACE will commission and produce the works of five emerging international artists. The project will address young international artists who have not yet had a solo museum exhibition and selected artists will be invited to create a new work of art that will be entirely funded by FACE. This will also include the publication of a catalogue.
Each year FACE partners will take turns to nominate a list of artists to propose to the other four partner foundations. One artist will be selected from those nominated and will go on to produce his/her new work. The final work will be exhibited in all five partner foundations and will enter their permanent collections.
The official presentation of FACE will take place at the European Parliament at the Altiero Spinelli Building in Rue Wiertz, Brussels on 16 April at 6.30 p.m.
