EcoOcean plans collaboration with Ocean Futures Society

6 May 2008

In December 2007, EcoOcean's founder Andreas Weil was approached by Jean-Michel Cousteau and his organisation Ocean Futures Society, who had read a story about EcoOcean's unique ship and education centre Megallim.

The two organisations are now planning a collaboration aiming at broaden marine research and education in Israel. The impact could potentially reach the entire Middle East region, where the ocean environment has become a major issue.

The non-profit information site ISRAEL21c quotes the explorer, environmentalist, educator and film producer Cousteau saying: "It is very important to make all of Isreal's youth appreciate the value of their marine resources and we applaud the good work of EcoOcean in this important endeavour".
