The Sorrows of Job
By Hanoch Levin, directed by Philip Zandén

The Jewish Theatre introduces Hanoch Levin – one of Israel’s most prominent playwrights – with his performance The Sorrows of Job.

We all think: it won’t happen to me. The misfortune won’t happen to me. The most dreadful thing won’t happen to me. Not me. But if it happened. If you suddenly lost everything you had. Your house and home, your children, money, friends, clothes, food. And if, on top of this, you were afflicted with a terrible itch. An itch that made you howl like a wild animal and writhe on the ground in hellish torment. And if a soldier from an alien power forced you to choose between renouncing everything you believed in or be impaled on a stake.

If it happened. Would you still claim that it wasn’t happening? Wasn’t happening to you?
