Maison Louis Carré

Maison Louis Carré

Cultural project entered in 2007, France

Proventus is a long-term supporter of Maison Louis Carré.

Maison Louis Carré was designed by the Finnish architect Alvar Aalto for the French art dealer and collector Louis Carré. The house was completed in 1959 and the swimming pool in 1963.

Maison Louis Carré

This masterpiece of modern architecture, combining buildings, garden, furniture and interior design in a total work of art, is Aalto's only remaining building in France and one of his most remarkable private villas. The house is now owned by the Association Alvar Aalto en France which is restoring the house.

International seminars on architecture and design will be organized in what remains an exceptional testimony of civil architecture in the second half of the 20th century. The seminar committee, chaired by Esa Laaksonen, director of the Aalto Academy in Helsinki, includes Sari Anttonen, Françoise Fromonot, Pentti Kareoja, Marjatta Levanto, Daniel Sachs and Deyan Sudjic.

Proventus’ cultural/research activities are a demonstration of our commitment to looking beyond the short-term. To Proventus none of these projects is about philanthropy or sponsorship in the narrow financial sense. They are about learning and a clear exchange between both parties to the partnership, and a demonstration of our values and our continual search for creative innovation.
