Experienced, long-term and active partner
Proventus is an active partner contributing with our long experience as a leading investment company and the long-term view of a family business.
We have a diversified investment strategy spanning over the full range of asset classes, such as equities (both private and listed companies), fixed income, currencies, and alternatives.
However, it is as an investor in private companies (and listed companies where we own a significant stake) we can create most value. Ideally as an active owner of a significant minority, partnering with the other owners and management.
We generally invest in companies:
- In need for an active financial partner to grow or to change
- With a healthy underlying profitability (i.e. generally not in early stage ventures)
- Minority stakes of c. SEK 50-150m
Part of the story
PUMA – 1993
Puma, one of the most well known brands in the history of sport footwear and accessories, had seemed like the perfect catch when the Swedish Aritmos group saw an opportunity to acquire it in 1990. It was to become the biggest, not only in size but also by reputation, of all the sporting and leisure brands in their portfolio. However, the extent of the crisis in the Puma organisation had been largely underrated, and in the attempt to reverse the trend, Aritmos also soon found itself in a deep fix. So when Proventus in turn acquired Aritmos and all its brands in 1993 – starting its era in the world of sports – one of the most urgent priorities was to get the great Puma back on track.
