Curator: Tessa Praun
The film shows Zinédine Zidane – often described as one of the great football geniuses of our time – during a match between Real Madrid and Villareal on 23 April 2005.
During the 93 minutes of the match Zidane is followed by 17 cameras which show how he at times is enthusiastically engaged in the match, flies across the field and passionately argues with the referee, but also how he distractedly looks around, tests the grass with his shoes and folds his socks over and over again. The ball is hardly ever visible – instead the viewer is engaged in an exceptional study in real time where one at times almost feels like one is on the field right next to Zidane.
In conjunction with the exhibition Magasin 3 presents an evening program including film screening, bar and special guests. Margaretha Rossholm Lagerlöf, professor of art history at Stockholm University and Henrik Ystén, editor in chief for Offside Magazine will talk about their shared fascination with football.
During the evening the artwork "Numéro 10", 2006 (120 min) by Massimo Furlan - a filmed performance from Parc des Princes, Paris - is screened.
